Summer Program

The Project REACH summer program for 2001 will focus on:

Social Science:
Incorporating the popular music style Hip Hop, students will research, study, and make connections to various musical styles from around the world. Students will also trace the origins and the cultures that have influenced this music genre.

Reading and Writing
Designed to focus on ways to improve reading comprehension and techniques to improve various forms of written expression. Students will be given the opportunity to read, analyze, think about, and discuss various written and oral genre's such as spoken word, essays, short stories, and lyrics.

Math and Logic
The students will practice their math skills in an attempt to better understand what they have previously learned and to solidify concepts they will need for the upcoming school year.

Art
Students will express themselves using several different artistic mediums, and will translate what is learned from the other classes into works of art.

Technology
Students will have instruction in the use of various informational and educational technologies.

Karate
A great way to work out, while teaching discipline, focus, and clarity. Students will take Karate lessons every Tuesday and Thursday

Information and Activities
Students will have an opportunity to take part in hands-on field work. These trips are designed to enhance the learning process by venturing out of the classroom to see and experience the topic first hand.

The Project REACH summer program is free. It will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. , July 9, 2001- August 17, 2001. The entire program is accessible to all students with special needs. For more information call 287-7390/V, or 287-7395/TTY

This program is a great opportunity for students to receive individualized help in several academic subject areas, while giving them a chance to meet other kids from local Boston Public schools in their area .
